Final Conference of the CompoWIN project in Bulgaria!
In the last week of October 2022, international partners of the project, attended the final conference of the COMPOWIN project "Composite fabricator - My future vocation", which took place in Sandanski, Bulgaria. At the conference, they presented information about composite materials and the composite industry as a whole, and reviewed the main results of the COMPOWIN project, specifically the online platform for education in the field of composite materials. The event evaluated and expanded the results of the project, allowing participants to test and understand their potential and applicability, as the composite industry, composite materials and training for future potential workers in the industry, boasts a high added value, and the work is still done manually. Cooperation takes place under the auspices of the Erasmus + program, Key measure 2, Strategic partnerships in the field of vocational education and training.

Project partners organized events to promote the results of the project CompoWIN - More Skilled Hands for Hi-Tech Production. The events were visited by pupils, students, job seekers and those who are considering a career change, as within the COMPOWIN project the project partners developed a comprehensive and attractive training system for working with composite materials, contents for teachers, lecturers and educational institutions, lesson plans, materials for teachers and self-evaluation documents.
"The multiplier event was a catalyst for creating additional opportunities for networking and raising awareness about the project, the composite industry, and employment opportunities. All this to support the companies of the composite industry, which are opening their doors wide to new personnel."

CompoWIN project results are ready to use!
Since the beginning of November 2020 project partners (BICC Sandanski from Bulgaria, 3D Group Cluster 3D Technology from Croatia, Kuressaare Ametikool from Estonia, Sachsische Bildunggeselschaft Furumweltschutz und Chemiberufe Dresden MBH – SBG from Germany and RDC Zasavje and AFormX, aviation technology and precision mechanics l.l.c. from Slovenia) have been actively participating in the consortium of the CompoWIN project - More Skilled Hands for Hi-Tech Production. The project runs from 1.11.2020-31.10.2022. Cooperation is taking place under the auspices of the European commission program Erasmus +, Key Action 2 Strategic partnership in the field of vocational education and training facilities.
The common thread of the project are composite materials and training in the field of composite industry, which boasts high added value, and the work is still done by hand. In this way, they make airplanes, boats, sports equipment, wind turbine blades, and so on. Although the industry employs a lot of workers throughout Europe and generates approximately € 70 million in revenues every day, there are still quite weak links between industry and education.
As with many other industries, the composite manufacturing sector companies suffer from the lack of qualified personnel and fluctuation of the workforce. To cope with that issue, many companies are providing in-house training for employees. They are investing sufficient resources in raising the qualification of their companies' managerial and production staff.
The CompoWIN project uniting companies and training providers from five European countries, is addressing these challenges. It is aimed to help maintain and increase the competitiveness of EU manual labour by supporting the industry with training in countries where composite manufacturing is already well developed (Slovenia, Estonia and Germany) and introducing these results in countries where it is not (Bulgaria and Croatia), laying the foundation for future expansion.
The project delivers a holistic and ready-to-use training system for future composite fabricators. CompoWIN developed a Guidance System for Workers entering the composite industry, structuring and monitoring the progress of their skills development, and going along with already previously existing and hereby updated e-courses developed in the frame of the CompoHub project (www.compohub.eu). The vision of the project consortium is to integrate the CompoHUB one day as a module into the curricula of technical schools.
Project partners elaborated a Step-by-step Guide for organising training for the composite industry along with a list of resources needed to give the courses, organisational guidelines, trainer preparation materials and tests. The Guide includes and offers a preliminary checklist, providing a detailed description and guidance on the basic material conditions that an organisation needs to fulfil before attempting a composite training course. It serves as a primary reference for an initial go/no-go decision by a relevant manager/training expert of the educational organisation or VET provider whether to adopt the training or not. The Training Programme has been piloted during a Train-the-trainers session organised in Slovenia. Before CompoWIN and CompoHUB, entry and progress in the composite industry were difficult and took a long time. With CompoWIN, it will be faster, better structured and with better monitoring of the progress.

Od začetka novembra 2020 projektni partnerji (Business Information and Consulting Centre Sandanski Association, Bolgarija, 3D Grupa Klaster 3D Tehnologija, Hrvaška, Kuressaare Ametikool, Estonija, Sachsische Bildunggeselschaft Furumweltschutz und Chemiberufe Dresden MBH - SBG, Nemčija in Regionalna razvojna agencija Zasavje ter AFormX, letalska tehnologija in finomehanika d.o.o., Slovenija) aktivno sodeluje v konzorciju projekta CompoWIN - More Skilled Hands for Hi-Tech Production. Projekt traja od 1.11.2020-31.10.2022. Sodelovanje poteka pod okriljem Evropske unije, programa Erasmus +, Ključni ukrep 2, Strateška partnerstva na področju poklicnega izobraževanja in uposabljanja.
Rdeča nit projekta so kompozitni materiali ter usposabljanje na področju kompozitne industrije, ki se ponaša z visoko dodano vrednostjo, delo pa se še vedno opravlja ročno. Na ta način izdelujejo letala, čolne, športno opremo, lopatice vetrnih turbin, itd. Čeprav industrija zaposluje ogromno delavcev po celotni Evropi in vsak dan ustvari približno 70 milijonov evrov prihodka, pa še vedno obstajajo dokaj šibke povezave med industrijo in izobraževanjem.
Tako kot v mnogih drugih panogah se podjetja v sektorju kompozitne industrije soočajo s pomanjkanjem usposobljenega osebja in fluktuacijo delovne sile. Za spopadanje s to težavo, številna podjetja zaposlenim zagotavljajo interna usposabljanja te vlagajo znatna sredstva v dvig usposobljenosti vodstvenih in proizvodnih kadrov svojih podjetij.
Projekt CompoWIN, ki združuje podjetja in izvajalce izobraževanj iz petih evropskih držav naslavlja te izzive, s ciljem pomagati ohraniti in povečati konkurenčnost ročnega dela v EU s podporo industriji z usposabljanjem v državah, kjer je proizvodnja kompozitov že dobro razvita (Slovenija, Estonija in Nemčija), in uvajanjem teh rezultatov v državah, kjer ni (Bolgarija in Hrvaška). ) in tako postavlja temelje za bodoče.
Projekt zagotavlja celovit in za uporabo pripravljen sistem usposabljanja za bodoče proizvajalce kompozitov. Projekt CompoWIN je razvil usmerjevalni sistem za delavce, ki vstopajo v industrijo kompozitov, strukturira in spremlja napredek razvoja njihovih veščin ter sledi že obstoječim in posodobljenim e-tečajem, razvitim v okviru projekta CompoHub (www.compohub.eu). Vizija projektnega konzorcija je CompoHUB nekega dne vključiti kot modul v učne načrte tehničnih šol.
Projektni partnerji so pripravili Priročnik po korakih za organizacijo usposabljanja za kompozitno industrijo skupaj s seznamom virov, potrebnih za izvedbo tečajev, organizacijskih smernic, gradiv za inštruktorje ter testov. Priročnik vključuje in ponuja predhodni kontrolni seznam, ki zagotavlja podroben opis in smernice o osnovnih materialnih pogojih, ki jih mora zadostiti organizacija, preden se loti tečaja usposabljanja. Služi kot primarna referenca za prvotno odločitev ali uporabiti usposabljanje ali ne s strani ustreznega vodje/strokovnjaka za usposabljanje izobraževalne organizacije ali ponudnika poklicnega izobraževanja in usposabljanja. Program usposabljanja je bil pilotno preizkušen med izvedbo Train-the-trainers, organizirano v Sloveniji. Pred CompoWIN in CompoHUB sta bila vstop in napredek v industriji kompozitov težavna in dolgotrajna. Projekt CompoWIN ponuja, omogoča hitrejši, bolje strukturiran vstop in napredek v industriji kompozitov ter lažje in boljše spremljanje napredka.

The project will create curricula, materials for teachers and documents for self-evaluation. In combination with an existing on-line course compohub.eu, it will be possible to turn general technical knowledge or teaching into basic teaching techniques and knowledge of composite materials, while the aim of the project is also the ability for rapid deployment of training in organizations with no previous experience with composite materials. The project will strive to place the good practices of national vocational qualification in the education systems of Bulgaria and Croatia, and thus it is expected that this will encourage the dissemination of national vocational qualification in other EU countries.
Project partners elaborated comprehensive training programme and contents, tailored to the specific needs and requirements of the composite industry and the Guide for entering the composite industry in order to easily access the Training programme "Composite fabricator - my future vocation” on the completely updated CompoHUB e-learning platform and online repository, to further enrich and revisit this online resource (http://www.compohub.eu/course/index.php).

V okviru projekta bodo nastali učni načrti, materiali za učitelje ter dokumenti za samoevalvacijo. V kombinaciji z že obstoječim on-line tečajem compohub.eu, bo možno splošno tehnično znanje oz. poučevanje spremeniti v osnovne tehnike poučevanja in znanja o kompozitnih materialih, cilj projekta pa je tudi sposobnost hitrega uvajanja usposabljanja v organizacije brez predhodnih izkušenj s kompozitnimi materiali. Projekt si bo prizadeval za umestitev dobre prakse slovenske nacionalne poklicne kvalifikacije *v izobraževalne sisteme Bolgarije in Hrvaške, s tem pa se pričakuje, da bo to spodbudilo širjenje nacionalne poklicne kvalifikacije tudi v druge EU države.
Projektni partnerji so v okviru projekta izdelali obsežen izobraževalni program in vsebine, prilagojene specifičnim potrebam in zahtevam kompozitne industrije ter Vodnik za vstop v kompozitno industrijo za lažji dostop do izobraževalnega programa »Composite fabricator – my future vocation« na popolnoma prenovljeni učni platformi in spletni repozitorij, za dodatno obogatitev in spodbujanje online platforme (http://www.compohub.eu/course/index.php).

Train-the-trainers training and exchange of experience in the field of composite manufacturing
In the week from 16 to 20 May 2022, the partners of project COMPOWIN participated in the Train-the-trainers training and exchange of experience in the field of composite manufacturing, organized by the project partner AFORM X. At the meeting, the partners developed guidelines for the elaboration of a useful and attractive training system for future manufacturers of composite materials, pilot training for project partners in Slovenia and a system for rapid adoption of the composite industry by educational and commercial organizations.
The training system will represent one of the significant results of the project. The second equally important result will be the ability to introduce this training system very rapidly into organisations with no previous experiences with composites. Training programme will aim to develop a comprehensive training programme and contents, tailored to the specific needs and requirements of the composite industry. The existing CompoHUB training content along with the newly developed training modules, will form a comprehensive training offer, packaged and disseminated in partner countries as Training programme "Composite fabricator - my future vocation". In parallel to the piloting process, the updated and localised Training Programme will be integrated on the completely updated CompoHUB e-learning platform.

COMPOWIN project continues
On 13 and 14 April 2022, the COMPOWIN project partnership participated in the 3rd CompoWIN project - More Skilled Hands for Hi-Tech Production meeting, organized by project partner 3D GROUP. At the meeting, the partners developed guidelines for the elaboration of a useful and attractive training system for future manufacturers of composite materials, pilot training for project partners in Slovenia and a system for rapid adoption of courses for the composite industry by educational and commercial organizations.
The project partnership elaborated and assessed the course of already carried out dissemination activities and the plan of future dissemination activities for the promotion of the project and project activities. In combination with the already existing compohub.eu online course, general technical knowledge and teaching methods will be possible to turn into basic teaching techniques and knowledge of composite materials, with the aim of rapidly introducing training in organizations without previous experience with composite materials.
The red thread of the project, which has been running since November 2020, is the composite industry, composite materials and training for future potential workers in an industry that boasts high added value, and the work is still done by hand. Although the industry employs a huge number of workers across Europe and generates around € 70 million in revenue every day, there are still relatively weak links between industry and education. Organizations from Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Germany and Slovenia are participating in the project. Cooperation takes place under the auspices of the Erasmus + program, Key Action 2, Strategic Partnerships in Vocational Education and Training.

Today we are publishing Comparative Report as one of the milestones of the CompoWIN project, as it aims to deliver a more comprehensive background information on the current state of development of the composite industry in participating countries and existing challenges that the sector is facing (i.e. lack of qualified personal, limited R&D, lack of VET programmes, etc.).

2nd transnational meeting of project partners in Dresden, Germany
On the 25th and 26th of November 2021, the 2nd transnational meeting of project partners within the CompoWIN project took place. The meeting was hosted by the German partner SBG Dresden mbH and was held in a hybrid form due to the epidemiological situation.
Neitherless, the partners dicussed various topics regarding composite materials and training in the composite industry, which boasts high added value. At the meeting, project partnership presented the work already done on all intellectual results, reviewed upcoming activities and formulated guidelines for the further activities of the CompoWIN project.

News from the CompoWIN project, 9th November 2021
The project partners have been working hard on the objectives of the project and are now excited for our first face-to-face meeting in Dresden (Germany).
Project partners elaborated the methodological guidelines for IO1 Competencies and skills framework, that will help and guide all the project partners in the implementation of project activities (focus groups, interviews, desk research, questioners, etc.) and therefore help the project partnership conduct a comprehensive analysis of the composite industry development in partners’ countries.
As part of extensive field research, project partners had identified and mapped the key skills needed in companies of the composite industry in partner countries, to serve as the basis for the subsequent development of IO2 and IO3. The second part of IO1 will provide a more comprehensive outlook of the composite industry. It will result in the development of a Catalogue of opportunities and barriers for employment (COBE) and a Perspective technologies focus catalogue.

On the 8th of December 2020, a Kick off meeting of project partners within the COMPOWIN project took place. The meeting was hosted by the leading partner BICC Sandanski and was held online due to the epidemiological situation. The project partnership will focus on creating a comprehensive, useful and attractive training system for future composite materials manufacturers. The project will create curricula, materials for teachers and documents for self-evaluation. In combination with an existing on-line course compohub.eu, it will be possible to turn general technical knowledge or teaching into basic teaching techniques and knowledge of composite materials, while the aim of the project is also the ability for rapid deployment of training in organizations with no previous experience with composite materials
At the meeting, all partners involved in the project met and defined work or project activities, namely project management, dissemination of project activities and quality assurance of project results in order to successfully implement the project, project activities and project goals.
